So, yesterday (Tues 06 Nov 07) we headed out to Manea [the outskirts of March] to go to the Maize maze. It was Jamie, Me & the 2 Missionaries. It was quite the experience. Here are some pictures from the maze.
Bonjour et Au Revoir Paris
On Sunday 05/08 we headed off to Paris. We left London Waterloo Eurostar station at 08:01. It took about 3 hours to get into Paris.
We took a taxi to the hotel. I was impressed at the amount of English people spoke in Paris.
At the hotel, Jamie had a nap and I headed off on the Paris Metro to downtown Paris. It was an awfully hot day. I think I got sun stroke. I did enjoy it though.
I took a picture of the Louvre pyramid while I was there.
I came back to the hotel and had a nap. In the evening Jamie and I headed out to a place called Pont Neuf (Bridge Nine) and we took a cruise on the river Seine. It was nice, it was about 90 minutes. It took us down to the Eiffel Tower and back to the Notre Dame before taking us back to the pier.
On the Monday (06/08) it was raining heavy for most of the day. We did eventually manage to go out and we took a tour on one of the open top buses. We got some good pictures.
We went by the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, French Government, Champs Elysees, Arc De Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and then back to the Louvre.
We ate at a cafe in the evening. It was ok, not too bad food. We headed back to the hotel ready for the last day.
On the Tuesday (07/08) we took one last open bus tour. This took us by the Moulin Rouge and the Gare du Nord (North Station).
From there, we went and done some souvenir shopping and headed to the station ready for the train home. We finally got home at 23:45 that evening and had a well earned sleep.
Yodel-ay-hee-hoo
So, this weekend (Sunday 29/07) until Wednesday 01/08 I went off to Europe with my brother. He is a long distance lorry driver and had the opportuninty to take me along with him.
It was great. I enjoyed it.
We started off in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. We drove down to Dover – it went a little wrong there. We were stuck in customs for 5 hours as they didn’t have all the paperwork. Also, we had a LOT of whisky on board so that didn’t help the process.
We finally got on the ferry. We sailed over to Calais. About half way between you could see England and France. It was an alright day too.
From Calais, we headed off onto the wilds of the European Road Network. We managed to get as far as a rest stop close to the French/Belgian border. It was a well needed break though. The scenery on the way was really nice. There were loads of fields and also churches dotted all over the landscape.
At 2am we were ready to head off again. I managed to somehow fall from the lorry. I fell on my side and on my belly. It didn’t hurt, but scared me like crazy. We managed to get as far as Switzerland.
Switzerland is really nice. It’s like it is shown to be. Loads of mountains and beautiful scenery. We drove up some alpine mountain roads. Crazy that we managed to do it though. We also drove through downtown Zurich. Such a nice town.
Well, that summed up the trip to Europe. Now I am back at home and ready to go to Paris at the weekend.
