I’m finally writing again

So, I decided that it would be time to write on my blog again. I know, I know – I haven’t written for a while.

So much has gone on these past few months that I decided to write about them.

So, this is what has happened in the last few months:

  • Church has moved to Peterborough
  • We went to London with a cool Californian family
  • I have a job
  • I got teeth taken out – and all that comes with it

OK, I guess it wasn’t that much. Well, these are the main things anyway.

Church moving to Peterborough

We moved from our home at the special needs school – Marwick Centre – to a chapel in Peterborough. It is a proper chapel, purpose built for worship. It is nice to finally meet in a proper church building. Our meeting times are from 1:30 – 4:30 in the afternoon. It is a long drive from where we live – about 30 miles. It’s OK though. The chapel compensates for the distance.

Going to London with Californians

We had a missionary serve in our branch by the name of Spencer Jernigan. We had a fun time while he was serving in our branch. I sent his family pics of one p-day that we had at the local bowling alley. We kept in contact with his family throughout the rest of his mission. The emails from his family were always good to read and were funny. The Jernigan family decided to meet up with Jamie & I in London (we owe them big time for their kindness too) It was so much fun to see them. His mom was definatley the kind of person she came across in the emails. His Pop and brother were cool too. I had so much fun being tour guide to them for the 2 days they were there. It was an honour to be able to do it too. I did make one mistake – we stood on the platform of Baker Street tube station waiting for a train and what I forgot to do was look at the board that said trains had been cancelled. Oops. Sorry Jernigans. It was awesome to meet up with you guys.

I’m finally a working man

I got a job working from home. I work for an outsourcing company called Teletech. They are a Colorado based company. I have been outsourced to work for Sky Broadband. I love being able to go from the couch to the bedroom for work. A nice short commute. We had to move the computer from the living room into the bedroom. That was fun! I work providing technical support for Sky Internet. I like the job. I like being able to help people. A lady asked me yesterday whether I liked my job. I do like it. I like the satisfaction it brings when customers say my internet is finally working.

The wonderful NHS dentist

I went to the doctors with severe face pain (cue Jamie with her is your face killing you joke) The doc couldn’t figure out what was wrong so I decided to call the dentist (I was in agony the whole day) The next day I went to the dentist. She had me have an x-ray of my mouth. It turned out that I had an abcess and had a wisdom tooth that was protruding. I made an appointment for the same week to get them out. I went to the dentist and got numbed to the hilt. She managed to pull out 2 teeth that needed to come out. She tried as she did to get the wisdom tooth out. She had to drill away at the bone. It turns out that the wisdom tooth is fused to the bone. I have to see an oral surgeon on Nov 9th to have it taken out. So, after 3 days I had to go back to the dentist because I have dry socket. It hurts like crazy. He gave me some antibiotics for it. It seems to have sorted itself now. Not in so much pain anymore.

Other than these, not much else has gone on. Until next time – hopefully not too long this time.

A Long Overdue Update

Here are a few pictures from our day today (21/02/2008)

We have bought a new car. It is a Citroen ZX. It was named Bridget by a former missionary – Elder Jones.

We got 2 new missionaries in our small Branch. 1 from California, the other from Oregon. It makes a change from Utah. (To all you Utahns – that’s not a bad thing) It just means more places that we can visit. They are called Elder Jernigan (CA) & Elder Crittenden (OR). They are quite funny guys. They’ve already dragged me out with them. No rest for me! I was called as the Elders Quorum President about a month ago. It’s tiring work.

I have Jamie teaching me how to play piano too. I’ve no co-ordination so it’s tough. I am trying though (as i’m sure Jamie will attest to).

Other than that, nothing much else is or has happened.

Here are the pics

Weird Goings On

Let me start this by saying that I am a little ticked off as I write this. You will see why from the post.

I woke up at 2:45 to use the toilet. I then went and checked my email on my PC. Well, in the middle of doing this, the power went off. It was only for a minute or so. It was rather annoying as I didn’t have 2 weeks to wait for my PC to get back to life. Luckily for me though, it wasn’t just us. It was the whole town. I looked out my window and there were no lights on at all.

I then went to bed, and that is when it started… the house alarms. Alarm 1… Alarm 2… Alarm 3 Alarm 4 Alarm 5! How this ticked me off. I tried as hard as I could to get back to sleep. No such luck, flippin alarms. After what seemed to be a life time, they started to stop. Alarm 1… Alarm 2… Alarm 3… Alarm 4…. Alarm – no such luck, not just yet… Alarm 5. Finally. It stopped. Needn’t have bothered though. Day was pretty much ready to break. To top it all off, it went deadly silent and I had to look over and make sure that Jamie was still alive. She has a cold, so I was worried when I couldn’t hear the snoring.

We also headed out to Peterborough to the Cathedral. It’s a nice cathedral, but not as nice as Ely Cathedral is. Although, in Peterborough Cathedral, Catherine of Aragon is buried here and it is the former buriel place of Mary, Queen of Scots.

That was pretty much the extent of our day. Now we are just awaiting the church meetings that are happening tonight. PEC and Branch Council.

On a side note, I took the quiz below and look what it told me

A month already!

Well, what do you know. It’s been a month already since my last post. It has been quite a month too.

My job did end, I am at a loss. I have no clue what to do now. I figure I could sit in front of the TV or computer all day. What would I accomplish though? Apart from a few aching bones!

I am looking for a job, so sitting in front of the computer can be excused on those grounds.

My health is generally good. I went to Ely, Cambridgeshire on Wednesday 27 June to see the ENT specialist. I went to see him because of my snoring. It’s apparently bugging the wife and tempting her to smother me during the night. (J/K) The doc said that there was nothing that could be done right now.

We also visited Ely Cathedral. It was £5.20 for admission but £4.50 for concessions. I cheekily asked if I could get a concession as I was unemployed. It worked a treat. Still not sure if it was worth the £4.50 though.

We had a good wander round and took some photos. It was quite ornate and different to anything you would see in a Mormon chapel.

Road To The Cross
I know where I need to go now!

On our way back, we drove through a town called Welney, Cambridgeshire. It scared the pants off Jamie. You will see why from the pics.

Look at how deep the water can get. 8 ft. Not for me

On Saturday June 30th we went down to London to see one of Jamie’s (and I guess mine now) uncles and his daughter. It was OK. We waited in Covent Garden in the pouring rain. We found them after half an hour and trundled on down to Leicester Square where we ate at Planet Hollywood (Ridiculously overpriced I might add). I was absolutley soaked when I got there. I still wasn’t dry an hour later.

Jamie was quite apprehensive about going down to London after the discovery of the car nail bombs in Piccadilly. We got home to discover that Glasgow Airport was attacked with a flaming Jeep. It was to be expected I guess.

That was the fun that was our last month.

An Update

How bad am I at keeping up to date with this. Very bad is what you should be saying.

Well, we are now moved into the shed (poolhouse as I like to call it) and kinda settled.

Jamie was called as 1st counselor in Primary. She’s got a lot to get to grips with.

I am struggling to find a job at the moment. I’ve been for a couple of interviews. 1 said I had too much experience (why is that a problem?) and the other said I was a bad communicator (those of you who know me will wonder how ;p)

I had to get a wrist splint put in because my wrist is killing me. Apparently I have a condition called Carpal Tunnel (I guess the doctor would know best)

Well, nothing else to write about now.
